24th October 2009 Windsurfing: Hayling Island Wind Direction: S swinging SW Wind Stength: 15 increasing to 25 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: rain then cleared Max Speed: Distance Covered: First out on the 95L and 5.8 combo in onshore winds, working my way up to the inner sand bar. Once there, some ramps for jumping but eventually got fed up with not being able to see due to the rain and misting up on me specs! Change down to 5.2 and 75L, first run not quite enough wnd. Had a chat, watched others playing in the small shore dump and then went back in the now almost SW winds. Came back in upwind, applied more downhaul, re-launched. About 30 metres out, going over a big lump off the plane and board came unattached from rig! Managed to swin the sail in and thankfully Rob grabbed my board with an inch to spare before impact on the groyne! Cheers to Spud for helping me with the sail! Took that as a sign and packed up about 2.30pm, hour before high tide! |
